When my mother was sick due to diabetes complications, often she got hospitalized to treat those complications. She had heart pain in year 2000, high protein in her urine around year 2002, kidney failure in 2003. My father also had diabetes and heart problem. He died because of stroke. Both of them didn’t have health care insurance. So you can imagine how much of medical bills we had to pay for their hospitalization. It was a tough period in our family, but we could get through those moments with strong hearts.
Based on that experience, I and my sister have decided to take health care insurance as precautions in case we are sick. It was in 2004, after my mother died. Many of our family members have same health problems, so we took right decision to have health care insurance early. Although we watch our diet and exercise regularly, you never know when the sickness comes. Also, the health care insurance company will reject our application when we are diagnosed of degenerative diseases as per their list.
I was diagnosed having diabetes condition last year, so I’m glad that I have taken my health care insurance when I was healthy. Well, I feel healthy now and so far, I have never been hospitalized.
My message to you is: always prepare umbrella before rainy season.
